You don’t waste days like these

A fogbow on the way up Beinn Dorain

When it’s winter in the Scottish Highlands and the sun is shining and the weather is calm you don’t waste the opportunity, these days are as rare as wild haggis.

So when I was presented with a sunny Scottish Winter Highland day I made straight for the Bridge of Orchy with a couple of Munro’s, Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh in mind.

Many say it’s been a poor winter in Scotland this year but I fell lucky and with recent fresh snow fall the Mountains were looking stunning. They may have looked stunning but the going was pretty tough in deep unconsolidated snow.

The complete round of these two munros with outlying tops was 18.75km with 1228m of ascent. A pretty straightforward route and a solid day in the legs.
