With a free day I thought I’d recce a a route that I was to lead as a freelancer for @will4adventure the following week. Starting just under Catbells this route winds its way into the West Central fells before heading over to Emmerdale and up onto the Buttermere fells before making its way back to Braithwaite.  A brutal 40km route with a smidge over 3500 metres in ascent.  

I’m a stickler for a recce, familiarising myself with the route and its associated risks.  A recce day is never a wasted day.
