The Edale Skyline is a challenging circular route that traverses the vast and beautiful Edale Valley. You'll be led by an experienced mountain leader who'll guide and motivate you throughout the day!
Starting in Hope we ascend Lose Hill (476m/1562ft) before our route takes us over the Great Ridge to Mam Tor (517m/1696ft) with fabulous views of both the Hope and Edale Valleys.
We then make our way over Lords Seat and Brown Knoll (569m/1867ft) before ascending to the high point of the day, Kinder Low at 633m (2077ft). From here our route follows the Southern Edge of Kinder Scout to Grindslow Knoll (601m/1972ft) before a decent to Hope Cross and a short climb to to our final summit, Win Hill (462m/1515ft). Timed right the sunset from Win Hill is spectacular with far reaching views over Ladybower, Kinder Scout and the Hope Valley.
From here we head down into Hope.
We have given this route 4 out of 5 "mountains" for difficulty which means that ideally any person undertaking this challenge should be comfortable walking between 7 & 12 hours over high upland terrain. This is definitely not a beginners route. Whilst this route is not technical it is a long and challenging outing.
The nature of the route makes it a perfect 'first" challenge route or a training route for other longer challenge routes like the National Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Yr Wyddfa) or for the Yorkshire Three Peaks in the Yorkshire Dales.
It's an ideal challenge for individuals, families, work team days or groups and people wanting to raise money for their favourite charities.
