What equipment will I need?

Equipment will vary depending on the adventure you book. We’ll  provide you with an equipment list when you book but below is an example equipment list for our “Snowdon Sunrise” guided adventure and is representative of the equipment required on our level 3 walks and above.

EQUIPMENT LIST – SNOWDON GUIDED ASCENT

* Rucksack – 20 – 30 litre should be adequate. • We would advise that you line the rucksack with a rucksack liner (which could be a strong plastic bag) to keep your belongings dry if it rains.

* Walking boots • Boots should have a good sole pattern and firm ankle support

* Hiking / Walking socks • Comfortable, hiking over ankle hiking socks (not cotton). We would advise that you bring along a spare pair for walks over 10 miles.

* Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers • These must be “waterproof” NOT “water resistant” with taped seams

* Walking trousers • No Jeans or denim • If wearing shorts please ensure you carry a spare pair of full length trousers

* Base layer/wicking layer • Warm fleece top or soft shell • Insulated jacket or spare warm top • The early pre-dawn hours on Snowdon can be chilly, particularly if we are required to wait around for the sunrise.

* Hat & Gloves

* Sun protection and sun hat

* Small first aid kit (personal first aid, your medication, plasters, Compeed or equivalent for blisters, paracetamol, ibuprofen and so on)

* Survival bag

* Headtorch • Essential as we will be starting the walk in the dark!

* Water bottle – min 1 litre

* Sufficient food and snacks for 9 hours

* Trekking poles

* Money (for the return by Sherpa bus etc)

The items in bold are essential/mandatory and must be carried. Your safety is of paramount importance to us. Mountain Rescue are frequently called out for people that don’t have the right equipment and get into difficulties. No one wants that to happen so if you do not have the mandatory equipment then we may be forced to cancel or change the activity at your cost.

If you have any queries on this kit / equipment list then please do not hesitate to contact us either by emailing dan@sevenhillsoutdoors.co.uk
