 Mark is a fully qualified, advanced REC first aid trained, DBS checked and passionate Mountain Leader. He is a freelance guide for Seven Hills Outdoors. 

Having fallen in love with the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) many years ago it has become his passion and long standing ambition to be able to help others enjoy the great outdoors. Mark is a firm believer that not only are the mountains good for your physical health they can also have great benefits for your mental wellbeing. 

Mark’s day job involves lots of people engagement being a shift manager in a busy manufacturing facility. This involves dealing with stakeholders at all levels of the business from shop floor to senior directors. Leadership is a key function within the role and this is carried forward into his work in the outdoors. These people management skills are essential when judging strengths and weaknesses and being able to see when assistance or coaching and encouragement is required. 

When not doing his day job or guiding in the mountains, Mark can also be found on Wales’s biggest Mountain Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon. Here he is part of a team of volunteer wardens. This is a crucial and highly rewarding role where interaction with the public is fundamental. Often offering advice to new hikers, assisting with incidents on the mountain and helping to keep the area and environment litter free. 

Mark is also an Assistant Regional Coordinator for the Mountain Training Association in  North East Wales. Mark is just getting started with this new challenge, which will involve running local events/training sessions for new and budding mountain leaders. Another highly rewarding role being able to coach, assist and give something back to the mountain community. 

Mark loves a challenge especially if it involves mountains. Multiple National 3 peaks, Yorkshire 3 peaks, Welsh 3 peaks, Welsh 3000s and the Fan Dance (Notorious Special Forces route) to name but a few. Charity work is another opportunity, which Mark is heavily involved in guiding on various fundraising events for huge national charities.
