George has held the Hill and Moorland Group leader award since 2007 and is up to date with the appropriate remote first aid qualification. He is an active fell walker and runner and is a member of the Rucksack Club. George completed the Bob Graham round in 2014 and the Paddy Buckley Round in 2019 and is experienced at supporting others on those rounds.
George has been exploring the Peak District since he was a child and has an intimate knowledge of the Dark Peak and White Peak areas. He has completed several long distance challenges in the Peak District such as the 15 Trigs and the Derwent Watershed, in The Lake District such as the Old County Tops and in the Yorkshire Dales including the Fellsman.
George was an A level History teacher for 17 years and has a deep interest in the social history of the mountains. He is particularly interested in widening participation in the outdoors and working with people who perhaps wouldn’t naturally access the benefits of being in wild places.
